A painter blends a craftsman’s working ethos with an artist’s sensibility. He ought not to strive for self-expression, but for the good, the true, and the beautiful. The honest, patient, and sincere gaze of the painter reveals these wonders of everyday life. A oil portrait, therefore, is always an act of recognition and appreciation of a real person. It says: You are here. We see you. You are loved.

THE PROCESS

Every commission begins with a personal conversation – either in person or via video call. The aim is to define the project clearly: subject, pose, color harmony, and format.After this first exchange, I invite you to a short sitting (about 30 minutes) in which I take reference photographs and make preliminary sketches. If you are unable to travel to Vienna, I can also work from an existing photograph, and I am happy to advise you in choosing a suitable reference. (Please note: I cannot combine multiple photos or depict people from different angles than the ones provided.)
